Our Practice
Cascade Karate
offers an energetic training environment,
adherence to exceptional standards,
and the practice of serious martial art. We believe it is imperative that the
training of form and function must be inseparable and that the key to
developing real ability lies in mastery of a limited number of skills
that can be applied against an infinite number of threats.
The key
distinguishing characteristics of our practice of karate are an emphasis on
distance control, evasive movement, and precision striking utilizing both long
and short range striking techniques including punches, kicks, elbows, and
knees. To enhance their striking ability students are also trained to employ a
variety of foot sweep and throwing techniques. As an adjunct, students are also
trained in basic ground fighting skills with an emphasis on take-down defense
and how to strike effectively and/or utilize chokes and joint locks to finish
the opponent on the ground.
Designed as an integrated system of training our curriculum is
structured so that students develop formidable self-defense skill, exceptional
fitness, and an indomitable sense of spirit that leads to a never quit attitude.
